I just used blech to clean my cats litter box, which smelled like ammonia. Now I feel really weird and I can still feel a weird feeling in my nose.

next time use white vinegar, it is safe and neutrlizes the amonia, we use it in our horses stalls to get rid of the smell.

Any kind of urine is ammonia. Cat litter is used cuz it helps to clump up and make it easy to clean and scoop up. Thus, i've always used normal cleaning detergent once a week to clean up the litter trays. Then put in new kitty litter for the cat's use again. Bleach if used too much, or inhaled too much will make you feel sick. Do not think it's the cat's urine smell, i think you've overdone it on the bleach itself. Leave it be. Why would you even want to use bleach to clean? The cats do need their toilet smell in the litter tray to come back to use it next time. It defeats the purpose if you're trying to get rid of that smell.

Ammonia is a component of the urine, so it would be better to clean it using a regular household cleaner and warm water and then use a 50/50 bleach and water solution to disinfect it later. However, it may not eliminate the odor. Because litter boxes are plastic, the box will absorb and hold odors over time. Consider replacing the litterbox at least annually to minimize the problem.

I get a weird feeling in my nose just thinking about cleaning the litter box.

Yes, it can make you sick. Cat urine contains ammonia. Never bleach a litter box in the house. if you have to, open a window, even in winter. After go outside and get fresh air for a few minutes. I've found that 3 cap fulls of Listerine work well for deodorizing a litter box best.

U should never use bleach around cats. It can cause upper respratery disease which is not fun to treat with a cat.
